BERLIN (AP) ā A 31-year-old British woman died after being stabbed early Sunday morning at a train station in the southern German town of Rosenheim, according to local police. Authorities said they detained a suspect at the scene.
The attack took place at the Rosenheim train station in the early hours of Saturday night into Sunday. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her serious injuries, Rosenheim police reported.
Federal police officers, who were called to the station, apprehended the suspect immediately following the stabbing. Police identified him as a 27-year-old German man from the nearby county of Fürstenfeldbruck.
Authorities have not released the names of the victim or the suspect, citing German privacy rules. They said they are still investigating the circumstances and motive behind the crime.
Appeal for Witnesses
Police are asking any witnesses to come forward, specifically requesting information about whether anyone saw āan argument or a physical altercationā at the station during the early hours of the incident. The appeal suggests that investigators are exploring whether the attack followed a confrontation.
The Rosenheim station, a regional hub in Bavaria, was the site of the early-morning violence, but police have not indicated any ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing.
