Andreessen and Horowitz Top 2026 Mega-Donor List With $115 Million, Report Says

As the 2026 midterm elections draw closer, the nation’s wealthiest donors are already pouring unprecedented sums into congressional races. A new report from The New York Times has identified the top mega-donors of the cycle, with Silicon Valley venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz leading the pack.

According to the Times’ analysis, Andreessen and Horowitz, founders of the influential firm Andreessen Horowitz, have contributed a staggering $115.3 million so far. Their donations have been spread across multiple Republican-aligned super PACs, including a $50 million contribution to Leading the Future, a major super PAC focused on artificial intelligence, and $46.8 million to Fairshake, a crypto-focused super PAC. They also gave $12 million to MAGA Inc., the super PAC supporting former President Donald Trump.

Coming in second place are George and Alex Soros, the father-and-son duo, who have donated $103.7 million to Democratic-aligned super PACs. Their giving includes $102 million to Democracy PAC, which funnels money to other Democratic super PACs, along with $500,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and $300,000 to Fair Fight, a voting rights group.

The Rise of Billionaire Influence

The Times’ report, highlighted on social media by journalist Teddy Schleifer, lists the top 20 donors who have collectively poured a massive $1.2 billion into House and Senate races in the 2026 election cycle so far. This figure underscores the growing role of billionaire cash in American politics, with tech industry figures, sports betting groups, and special interest groups all contributing heavily.

Rounding out the top four are hedge fund investor Jeff Yass and Elon Musk, the world’s richest man. Both have donated to Republican PACs, though the Times did not specify individual amounts for each in the report.

Coinbase, the cryptocurrency exchange, also made the list, reflecting the crypto industry’s aggressive push to shape the next Congress.

Cash Advantage for Republicans

The influx of mega-donor money has created a significant financial imbalance between the two national party committees. According to MS NOW, the Republican National Committee (RNC) currently holds $129 million in cash on hand with zero debt. In contrast, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has only $16 million in cash on hand and carries $18 million in debt, leaving the GOP with a commanding financial edge.

The full list of the top 20 donors, from Andreessen Horowitz to hedge fund magnate Ken Griffin, was published by the Times and shared widely online. It paints a picture of an election cycle where a handful of ultra-wealthy individuals and corporations are poised to have outsized influence on the battle for control of Congress.

With November still months away, political observers expect the donor spending to accelerate further, as both parties gear up for what is shaping up to be one of the most expensive midterm elections in American history.
