House Republicans are signaling that their investigation into ActBlue, the Democratic fundraising juggernaut, is not winding down—despite months of hearings and subpoenas. According to a Fox News report published Monday, GOP investigators believe the platform may have processed donations with questionable origins, and they say the probe is still active.
In a statement to Fox News, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) didn’t mince words. “Whether it’s allowing fraudsters to steal taxpayer dollars or accepting illegal foreign donations through ActBlue, Democrats have proven themselves to be the party of fraud,” Comer said. “Our investigation into ActBlue is far from over. We expect more documents and testimony in the weeks ahead.”
The investigation has been building for months. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) told Breitbart News in April that Republicans were looking into ActBlue over suspicions of foreign donations, noting the platform raises billions of dollars for Democrats each election cycle. Jordan also pointed to internal turmoil at the organization, saying that during the 2024 election, “their top people in their legal department dealing with fraud prevention resigned.”
ActBlue CEO Regina Wallace-Jones appeared before the House Administration Committee in June but repeatedly invoked her Fifth Amendment rights when pressed by Jordan about foreign donations. She declined to answer questions on the matter. Days later, House Republicans pushed her to comply with subpoenas for documents central to the investigation, according to Breitbart News.
Fraud Prevention Under Scrutiny
The Committee on House Administration Chairman Bryan Steil (R-WI) recently told Fox News that ActBlue’s own admissions have raised red flags. “ActBlue’s own admissions raise serious questions about its fraud prevention practices, including a so-called passport verification process that did not actually verify or check entries against any government database,” Steil said. “All options are on the table to ensure we get to the bottom of what is going on at ActBlue.”
At the heart of the probe is whether ActBlue—a platform that has become a vital pipeline for Democratic candidates and causes—complied with federal laws that prohibit foreign nationals from contributing to U.S. elections. The platform’s dominance in Democratic fundraising has made it a frequent target for Republicans, but the current inquiry appears to have gained traction following internal departures and allegations of lax vetting.
The House GOP’s continued focus on ActBlue comes as the party ramps up oversight efforts ahead of the 2026 midterms. While no charges have been filed and ActBlue has not been accused of any crime, the investigators’ insistence that more documents and testimony are coming suggests the matter is far from resolved.
Representatives for ActBlue did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
