CNN Data: MAGA Republicans Match Democrats at 71% on Midterm Voting Certainty

A new CNN analysis finds MAGA Republicans are just as likely as Democrats to say they're certain to vote in the 2026 midterms — and that Trump's support among the group has barely budged since 2024.

CNN Data: MAGA Republicans Match Democrats at 71% on Midterm Voting Certainty

MAGA Republicans are just as motivated to vote in the 2026 midterms as Democrats are, according to figures CNN presented Monday and highlighted by Breitbart News.

The network’s data shows 71 percent of Democrats say they are certain to vote in next year’s midterm elections. The same share of MAGA Republicans — 71 percent — said the same.

The parity between the two groups cuts against the conventional assumption that the president’s party suffers a measurable enthusiasm gap in the run-up to a midterm cycle, a dynamic that has shaped past wave elections.

Trump’s Standing With MAGA Republicans

CNN’s Harry Enten also examined whether President Donald Trump has lost ground with MAGA Republicans since the 2024 election, and the figures he presented showed almost no erosion.

Trump won 99 percent of the MAGA Republican vote against Kamala Harris in 2024, according to Enten. His approval rating among that same group now stands at 98 percent.

“Perhaps surprisingly, I might have thought it would be 100%, but it was 99%,” Enten said, referring to Trump’s 2024 vote share with the group.

Enten compared that vote share with the president’s current approval number among MAGA Republicans and concluded, “There’s been no real decline in MAGA support for the Trump administration.”

Put together, the two data points suggest the coalition that powered Trump’s return to the White House remains largely intact nearly two years later — and that its members are signaling they intend to show up at the polls.

Reaction and Rally Expectations

The report drew reactions online from people who described themselves as eager to vote and predicted that Trump’s upcoming rallies would boost turnout among his supporters.

The 2026 midterms will determine control of both chambers of Congress, with every House seat and roughly a third of the Senate up for election. Turnout among the most committed voters in each party’s base is often decisive in midterm cycles, when overall participation typically drops from presidential-year levels.

Democrats need to flip a handful of seats to reclaim the House majority, while the Senate map presents a narrower set of opportunities. How motivated each party’s base is — and whether that motivation holds through the fall of 2026 — will shape how those fights play out.

For now, the CNN figures indicate neither party’s most faithful voters hold a clear edge in stated intention to vote, even as the president’s approval rating among his most devoted supporters sits near the ceiling.
