Huckabee: Hamas Has Surrendered ‘Zero’ Weapons Despite Disarmament Pledge

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee says Hamas has given up no bullets, bombs, rifles or pistols since agreeing to disarm, blaming the group for slowing Trump's Gaza plan.

Huckabee: Hamas Has Surrendered 'Zero' Weapons Despite Disarmament Pledge

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said Wednesday that Hamas has not surrendered a single weapon despite agreeing to disarm, placing the blame squarely on the militant group for any slowdown in the Trump administration’s plan for Gaza.

Appearing on Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” Huckabee praised the framework President Trump has assembled — including what he described as a newly established Board of Peace — but argued that Hamas has ignored every element of the arrangement it accepted.

“The president has put together a very, very solid plan,” Huckabee said, according to a clip published by Breitbart News. “He’s established the Board of Peace. This could be moving forward. It could be moving forward progressively. But the only reason that there’s any slowdown is because of Hamas.”

Huckabee then walked through what he said was the group’s record on disarmament, answering his own question about how much weaponry Hamas has turned over.

“They agreed that they would disarm. You know how many bullets they’ve given up? None. How many bombs? None. How many rifles, pistols? Zero,” he said. “They’ve given up nothing.”

“They Have Ignored Every Bit of It”

The ambassador said the group made a commitment it has not honored, and he tied the continued violence to the stalled progress of the broader plan.

“They promised they would. President Trump brought them to the table, and then they have ignored every bit of it,” Huckabee said. “And they continue to fight and try to kill and kidnap Israelis, even while they’re cornered in Gaza.”

He added that he hopes the public comes to understand that dynamic fully, describing it as “the part of the story that I hope people will fully begin to understand.”

The remarks amount to a public pressure campaign from a top U.S. diplomatic official in the region, framing the current impasse not as a failure of American planning but as the product of Hamas’s refusal to follow through on its own commitments. By naming the Board of Peace as an existing piece of the architecture, Huckabee presented the administration’s approach as already built and ready to move — with only one party standing in the way.

A Familiar Sticking Point

Disarmament has long been one of the thorniest issues in any negotiation involving Hamas. The group’s weapons stockpile — rockets, small arms, and other materiel — is central to its ability to operate both as a fighting force and as a governing authority in Gaza. From Israel’s perspective, and from the Trump administration’s, any durable arrangement depends on Hamas giving up that arsenal. Huckabee’s comments suggest that, in Washington’s view, that has not happened in even the smallest measurable way.

His phrasing was deliberately concrete: bullets, bombs, rifles, pistols. Rather than speaking in generalities about compliance, he reduced the dispute to a series of zeros, a rhetorical choice aimed at making the case that Hamas’s agreement exists only on paper.

He also pointed to ongoing attacks, saying the group continues to attempt to kill and abduct Israelis even as it finds itself militarily boxed in. That claim, if borne out by events on the ground, would undercut any suggestion that the group is observing even an informal pause as talks proceed.

Trump Plan Still on the Table

Huckabee cast the president’s proposal as sound and its implementation as a matter of will rather than design. His insistence that the plan “could be moving forward progressively” implied that the mechanism exists and that the impediment is a single actor’s noncompliance, not a structural flaw in the blueprint.

The reference to a Board of Peace signals that the administration has moved beyond outlining an idea and into standing up institutions meant to carry it out. How much of that body is operational, and how it would function in practice, was not detailed in the interview segment.

Huckabee’s appearance fits a pattern of senior U.S. officials using television interviews to assign responsibility for the state of the conflict in plain terms. Wednesday’s comments were among his most direct yet, drawing a straight line from Hamas’s unmet promises to the lack of movement on a plan the White House has invested heavily in promoting.

Whether the pressure translates into action remains the open question. For now, the ambassador’s message is that Washington believes it has held up its end — and that the other side has delivered nothing at all.
