President Donald Trump brought his midterm barnstorming tour to Kansas on Monday evening, headlining a rally outside Wichita aimed at lifting Republican Sen. Roger Marshall, according to Breitbart News. The event drew thousands of attendees with lines stretching outside the arena and, in the outlet’s description, every seat inside filled.
The crowd’s reaction to Trump’s entrance became a story in itself. As he walked out to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless America,” the arena erupted — a moment that quickly circulated among reporters covering the event.
‘Blew the Roof Off’
One America News correspondent Daniel Baldwin described the scene on X, writing that the crowd “basically blew the roof off the arena when President Trump came out,” calling it an “absolutely wild crowd” for the president in Kansas.
The rally featured an opening act from rock musician Ted Nugent, who framed the coming election in stark terms. “I love real Kansas! Real America,” Nugent said, adding that “the agenda is clear: there’s a cutting line between communism and we the people: let’s vote for we the people.”
White House Touts Kansas Record
Ahead of the visit, the White House promoted what it called Trump’s “proven record of results that put Kansas workers, families, seniors, farmers, and communities first,” per Breitbart. The list of cited accomplishments included $222 million in rural healthcare funding, direct support for ranchers, and investments in the state’s military installations.
The trip places Trump in a state with a Senate seat Republicans are working to hold. Marshall, the incumbent, is seeking another term, and Trump’s appearance was framed as an effort to energize the base in the final stretch before the November midterms.
Trump Goes After Hamilton on Truth Social
Before taking the stage, Trump posted a lengthy endorsement of Marshall on Truth Social that devoted much of its length to attacking the Democratic nominee, Adam Hamilton. Trump called Hamilton a “Radical Left Phony who is pretending to be a moderate because he does not have the courage to tell Kansas the truth about who he really is.”
The post accused Hamilton of opposing Trump’s travel ban, supporting refugee resettlement in Kansas, and using church funds to back “anti-religious transgender activists.” Trump also claimed Hamilton promotes a document listing “125 different genders” and directs followers to websites aimed at making children transgender, and said Hamilton has described America as systemically racist and told white people they must “repent.”
Trump further alleged that Hamilton donated to Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama, and accused him of wanting to “take away your guns,” pointing to an “F” rating from the National Rifle Association. The claims in the post are Trump’s own characterizations of his opponent’s record and positions.
Urging supporters to turn out on November 3, Trump wrote: “you need to send a very strange Adam Hamilton back home, and RE-ELECT one of the Greatest Senators in our Country, Roger Marshall, to defend Kansas Values and COMMON SENSE.”
Credit Card Fees Front and Center
Trump singled out Marshall’s work on credit card swipe fees as a centerpiece of the senator’s record, describing him as the “Number One Champion fighting to protect hardworking Americans and Small Businesses from predatory Credit Card companies and out-of-control swipe fees.”
According to Trump, Marshall’s bill to end those fees “will save the typical American 2,000 Dollars a year,” and he pledged to sign it into law if voters deliver both Marshall and a Republican Congress. “if you vote for Roger and a Republican Congress, I will sign it into LAW!” the post read.
The rally is part of a broader schedule of appearances as Trump campaigns across the country for Republican candidates ahead of the midterms. Breitbart reported that the Kansas event drew an overflow crowd, with attendees lined up outside the venue well before the program began.
