Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs secures another term in Arizona, defeating Republican challenger Andy Biggs despite a late rally from former President Donald Trump.

Katie Hobbs Wins Reelection in Arizona, Defeating Trump-Backed Andy Biggs with Double-Digit Margin

Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs has clinched reelection, fending off a challenge from Republican Rep. Andy Biggs with a commanding double-digit lead. With 83% of votes counted, Hobbs claimed 55.6% of the vote compared to Biggs’ 42.7%—a nearly 278,000-vote margin.

“Arizona, thank you for trusting me to serve you for four more years,” Hobbs told supporters in a victory address. “Join us today to celebrate together, and to hear what comes next.” The win solidifies Hobbs’ position as a key Democratic leader in the battleground state since taking office in 2023.

Trump’s Rallying Cry Falls Short

The results arrive weeks after former President Donald Trump headlined a high-profile rally in Arizona, flanked by undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, to boost Biggs’ campaign. Trump had lambasted Hobbs as “horrible” and “dumb,” while praising Biggs as a “true American patriot” with “common sense.”

Immigration dominated Biggs’ platform, with the GOP challenger accusing Hobbs of dismantling border security measures implemented by her Republican predecessor. “The first thing she did was get rid of the border security task force,” Biggs told Breitbart News Daily, claiming Hobbs “literally opened borders to the amount that was within her control.”

Hobbs’ Progressive Policies Take Center Stage

Hobbs drew conservative backlash early in her term for vetoing a bill that would have mandated state and local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. She also ignited controversy by swiftly repealing Arizona’s 1864 near-total abortion ban—a move that resonated with progressive voters amid nationwide debates over reproductive rights.

The governor’s reelection cements Arizona’s status as a fiercely contested swing state where Democratic gains have chipped away at decades of Republican dominance. Hobbs now faces another term navigating polarizing issues from border security to abortion access in one of the nation’s fastest-evolving political landscapes.
