Hunter Biden Says He’s ‘48.5 Percent Gay’ in Bizarre Podcast Exchange

Hunter Biden told podcast host Luke Beasley he is 'a little bit' gay, even offering a percentage — before revising it downward mid-interview. The remarks follow his recent 'closeted gay mafia' comments about Washington.

Hunter Biden Says He's '48.5 Percent Gay' in Bizarre Podcast Exchange

Hunter Biden has never been one to shy away from a controversial statement — and his latest podcast appearance might be his most unconventional yet.

During a recent episode of the Luke Beasley podcast, the former first son declared he is “a little bit” gay, quantifying his orientation at just under 50 percent. The admission, delivered in a joking tone, quickly became the centerpiece of the interview’s opening segment.

Beasley kicked off the conversation by pretending to announce that former President Joe Biden would be joining the show — only to feign disappointment when he revealed the guest was actually Hunter. After rattling off the former president’s résumé, Beasley turned to Hunter and asked, “So what do you do?”

“Seriously?” Biden responded, before joking that he should admit to being a “central figure” in the “Biden crime family.”

“No, what do you do besides be related to someone cool?” Beasley pressed.

The conversation then took an unexpected turn. “Let’s get serious. I’m gay,” Beasley announced.

“Really? Wow. Seriously. I’m so amazed you’re gay,” Biden replied.

Beasley followed up, asking whether “a little bit” meant “more or less than 50 percent.” Then came the question that seemed to catch Biden off guard: “If you were gay, would I be your type?”

Biden appeared to backtrack, saying, “No, a little bit more masculine would be my type, if I was gay.”

The host then pivoted to Biden’s art career, noting he’d heard the former president’s son was a painter. When Biden confirmed, Beasley replied simply: “Gay.”

He continued, clearly alluding to the LGBTQ Pride flag: “So you’re like very … colorful. A … rainbow of colors.”

The topic kept resurfacing. At one point, Biden decided to revise his earlier figure: “Maybe I take back 48.5. More like 47 after that conversation. My gaydom went down a percentage point.”

As the interview wrapped, he raised the subject one last time, declaring, “I just wanted to let you know that I am back up to 48.5 percent gay.”

Echoes of the ‘Closeted Gay Mafia’ Comments

The remarks come just weeks after Biden sparked controversy on another podcast by claiming that the biggest problem in Washington, D.C., is the “closeted gay mafia” — which he alleged is made up mostly of Republican men.

“I believe the biggest problem in America is not the oligarchy; it’s the closetocracy. Everybody knows there is this closeted gay mafia, largely Republican, that exists in DC,” he told Jennifer Welch on her “I’ve Had It” podcast. “The only reason that is relevant is I believe that internal conflict creates so much vitriol inside a person that they take it out on the rest of the world.”

Those comments, which quickly went viral on social media, drew sharp reactions from both sides of the political aisle. Some conservative commentators seized on the “closetocracy” line as evidence of Biden’s erratic behavior, while others dismissed it as another attention-seeking stunt from a figure who has rarely shied away from the spotlight.

Biden’s latest appearance continues a pattern of provocative public statements that have kept him in the headlines since his father left office. Whether the “48.5 percent” remark was a genuine reflection of his orientation or simply another joke in a long line of them remains unclear — Biden himself seemed to treat the whole exchange as a bit, even as he revised his number mid-conversation.

The podcast episode, which has already circulated widely on social media, is unlikely to be the last time Biden’s words spark debate. For a figure who has faced legal troubles, addiction battles, and intense public scrutiny, the latest chapter in his post-White House life appears to be one of deliberate provocation — and of a number that keeps changing.
