A24 has released the official trailer for You Can See Everything, a nearly three-hour documentary in which comedian Nathan Fielder temporarily moves in with disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, according to UPI.
The preview, shared Wednesday, offers the first extended look at a project that has been quietly gestating for years. The film follows Fielder — the actor and comedian behind Nathan for You and The Rehearsal, now 43 — as he embeds himself in Holmes’s household during an unusually fraught period of her life. The documentary opens 34 days before Holmes, now 42, was due to report to prison in May 2023 to begin an 11-year sentence.
Holmes was convicted in 2022 on four counts of wire fraud and conspiracy for her role in the fraudulent Silicon Valley blood-testing startup.
A Family Portrait, Cameras Rolling
In the trailer, Fielder is seen living alongside Holmes, her husband, hotel heir Billy Evans, and their two children, with a film crew documenting the family’s daily movements. The setup places the comedian in the middle of domestic life at a moment when the household was preparing for Holmes to leave for more than a decade.
An official synopsis describes the arc in sweeping terms. “What begins as an intimate portrait of an enigmatic felon becomes a mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss,” it reads.
The trailer includes a pair of exchanges that are likely to fuel its advance publicity. At one point, Fielder asks Holmes directly, “You really feel you did nothing wrong?” Her answer: “I do not.” In another scene, Holmes tells Fielder that it took her “a really long time to be okay with letting someone see me cry,” before a single tear runs down her cheek.
Telluride Premiere Sets Up October Release
You Can See Everything is co-directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, whose credits include Ren Faire. The film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival this month and is scheduled to release in theaters Oct. 16.
The project lands at an interesting intersection for both of its central figures. Fielder has built a reputation for blurring the boundary between documentary and performance, often placing himself inside uncomfortable real-world situations and letting the awkwardness play out. Holmes, meanwhile, remains one of the most scrutinized business figures of the past decade, the subject of books, podcasts, a scripted miniseries and a steady stream of retrospective analysis since her conviction.
Bringing those two sensibilities together — the deadpan interventionist and the convicted founder who maintains her innocence — gives the film an unusual framing device. It is not a conventional biographical documentary, nor is it purely a comedy of manners. The nearly three-hour runtime suggests A24 is betting audiences will sit with the slow accumulation of domestic detail rather than a tidy summary of Holmes’s rise and fall.
For now, most of what the public knows about the film comes from the trailer and synopsis, which emphasize intimacy over exposition. The footage focuses on small moments inside the home: conversations, routines, and the physical presence of a camera crew inside a family’s private life. Holmes’s insistence that she did nothing wrong, captured on camera, is presented without commentary in the trailer — a choice that leaves the interpretation to viewers.
With a Telluride premiere already behind it and a theatrical date set for mid-October, the documentary is poised to become one of the fall’s more talked-about releases, arriving nearly three and a half years after Holmes began serving her sentence.
