Fauci Email Shows He ‘Cannot Ignore’ FDA Official’s Vaccine Reaction Reports

Newly released emails show Dr. Anthony Fauci forwarded concerns from a top FDA official about vaccine adverse events, asking NIH chief Francis Collins what to do—while publicly dismissing such worries.

Fauci Email Shows He 'Cannot Ignore' FDA Official's Vaccine Reaction Reports

Newly released emails show that in 2021, Dr. Anthony Fauci privately acknowledged that reports of adverse events after coronavirus vaccination could not be ignored—even as he publicly dismissed such concerns.

The emails, released over the weekend by Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rand Paul (R-KY), reveal that Fauci forwarded a message from Dr. Janet Woodcock, then-acting FDA commissioner, to NIH Director Francis Collins with a note saying, “We cannot ignore her.”

Woodcock’s Warning

In a May 27, 2021 email sent to Fauci and Collins, Woodcock said she had been contacted by people who experienced adverse events after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Many were healthcare professionals, some of whom she knew personally.

“The symptoms do not fit together into a distinctive syndrome and most are not easily quantifiable or evaluated with standard laboratory testing,” she wrote.

She acknowledged that during mass vaccination, psychological reactions are common, but stressed that the main complaint was that “no one takes them seriously, no one knows how to treat them, and there is no effort to study this.”

Woodcock urged a study of these individuals, noting that funding would be needed and that “the industry” likely wouldn’t support it.

“But my experience is, that if you let a problem fester, then it will come back to bite you later and you are not prepared,” she wrote, closing with “What do you think of this? Jw.”

Fauci’s Response

Rather than responding directly, Fauci forwarded the email to Collins the next day.

“Janet asks what we think of this? We cannot ignore her. We should probably bring in CDC and see what Rochelle thinks,” Fauci wrote, referring to CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky.

According to Johnson’s office, it is unclear if Walensky was ever consulted.

The senators’ offices also noted that at the time of the email, there were already 440,025 worldwide adverse events and 8,650 deaths associated with the COVID vaccine reported to VAERS. Of those deaths, 3,350—39 percent—occurred within two days of vaccination.

Public Dismissal

Despite these private concerns, Fauci continued to publicly downplay vaccine risks and focused on encouraging vaccination. In December 2021, he warned that unvaccinated individuals were “very vulnerable” and would “get seriously ill” if infected with COVID-19.

He also described a divide between vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans, calling it “almost two types of America.”

Senator Paul commented: “What they knew in private they never said to the public.”

The emails come after Johnson and Paul released a separate thread last week showing Fauci admitted in a text message that a COVID shot in the first trimester could be “theoretically” associated with miscarriage.

The releases are part of an ongoing investigation by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations into the government’s handling of COVID-19 vaccine safety and messaging.
