Hollywood’s liberal elite erupted in celebration Wednesday night as Democrats secured major victories in the 2026 midterm elections, with several A-listers using their platforms to deliver scathing rebukes of former President Donald Trump.
Celebrity Reactions Pour In
Barbra Streisand declared “democracy has prevailed” in a BlueSky post, applauding voters for rejecting “the corruption and lying of Donald Trump” as Democrats flipped both chambers of Congress. John Cusack was more blunt, posting “Texas [and] South Carolina say fuck you to trump” in all-caps excitement.
Mia Farrow framed the results as a moral victory, tweeting “We voted against the corruption, cruelty… and bullying” while Rosie O’Donnell called it a warning to “Trump and his sycophants.” John Leguizamo celebrated what he called “redemption time” for the country.
Late Night and Music World Chimes In
Jimmy Kimmel reportedly dedicated part of his late-night show to gloating about the results, while The Chicks (formerly Dixie Chicks) opened their Los Angeles concert with an election-themed celebration. Chris Meloni used the moment to attack Trump as “a convicted felon, alleged pedophile, and inept bullshit artist” in a lengthy X thread.
The reactions weren’t limited to entertainment figures – radio host Charlamagne tha God used his platform to criticize MAGA voters, while actress Carrie Coon accused Republicans of systemic corruption.
These unbridled celebrations highlight how deeply many in Hollywood have personalized the political divide, viewing the midterms not just as policy decisions but as cultural repudiations of Trump-era politics.
