In a sharply worded column published Wednesday, The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh argues that the wave of online sympathy for Lindsay Clancy — the Massachusetts mother accused of murdering her three children — is not an isolated phenomenon but rather the “logical endpoint” of years of feminist propaganda, SSRI prescriptions, and social media saturation.
Walsh points to the nearly $1 million raised via a GoFundMe for Clancy’s family, as well as viral TikTok videos in which women appear to jump out of windows in an attempt to “prove” that Clancy was pushed — a claim Clancy herself has not made. Clancy has admitted to killing her children, according to the column.
“There are women so bored with their lives, so delusional and dumb, that they’re throwing themselves out of buildings, on camera, in a futile attempt to demonstrate that Lindsay Clancy was definitely pushed out of her second-story window,” Walsh writes. He also notes that some online commenters are turning to astrology and birth charts to “divine the killer’s identity.”

The column, which has drawn both fierce criticism and support, extends its argument beyond the Clancy case to what Walsh describes as a wider pattern of “tribalism” on the left, citing the Karmelo Anthony case, in which thousands of Black people rallied around a teenager who stabbed a white classmate, and the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, which he says was met with “adulation from Leftists.”
Walsh also revisits a 2019 murder in Fairfax County, Virginia, in which an undocumented immigrant, Abdulloi Toshpulodzoda, stabbed his landlord to death and was later found not guilty by reason of insanity. Toshpulodzoda was eventually released from a mental health facility and fled the country on a one-way flight, according to the New York Post, as cited in the column.
Critics and Defenders Weigh In
The column has ignited a firestorm on social media. Critics accuse Walsh of demonizing women with mental health issues and of using the tragedy to push a broader anti-feminist, anti-immigrant agenda. Supporters, however, say he is giving voice to a growing frustration with what they see as a culture that excuses violence when the perpetrator fits a certain victim narrative.

“This is not about mental health, it’s about moral rot,” one commenter wrote on X. Others pointed to the apparent uniformity of the Clancy defenders — the same tone, mannerisms, and catchphrases — as evidence of a disturbing loss of individual thought.
“The woman in that video, and in the thousands of videos like it, has no personality of her own,” Walsh writes. “She is a drone, a walking cliché, a being devoid of distinctness.”
Walsh’s column ends with a broader cultural critique arguing that the groups most often warned about — young conservative white men — are, in his view, the least radicalized and most restrained, while other groups are descending into “psychosis.”
Whether one agrees with Walsh’s diagnosis or recoils from it, the piece has succeeded in reigniting a national conversation about the limits of empathy, the dangers of online echo chambers, and the fragility of the rule of law.
