Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) kicked off the NFL season this weekend with a familiar ritual: posting a photo of herself in Vikings purple. But critics were quick to point out that the image appeared to be the exact same one she has used for four consecutive years.
The post, shared on X on September 13, 2026, featured Klobuchar wearing a purple shirt with the caption, âGame Day against the Packers. Time to get out the shirt.â The senator, who is currently running for governor, seemed to acknowledge the shirtâs regular appearance. However, Townhall columnist Dustin Grage dug into the post and alleged that Klobuchar hadnât actually âgotten outâ the shirt at all â she had simply recycled an old photograph.

âYou never got out the shirt, or you would have taken a new photo,â Grage wrote on September 14, sharing a side-by-side comparison of the images. âThis is from 2023, 2024, 2025, and now⌠2026.â
The 2025 version of the photo remains visible on X, where it was posted with a different caption: âYes, Vikings! Odds were against the Vikings this week but JJ McCarthy is back! And weâve been optimistic since 1961.â

The recycled photo quickly drew mockery from conservative commentators. Breitbart Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle wrote, âAmy Klobuchar has been a fraud for a lot longer than she has been reusing this photograph.â
Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Brent Scher also weighed in, referencing a notorious anecdote from Klobucharâs past. âIncredible. Who is eating salad with a comb to pay for this laziness?â Scher posted.

A History of Unforced Errors
The comb remark refers to a 2019 New York Times report that detailed Klobucharâs alleged mistreatment of staff. According to the report, during a flight, a staffer brought Klobuchar a salad but dropped the fork. Klobuchar reportedly pulled a comb from her bag, used it to eat the salad, and then handed the comb to the staffer with an instruction to âclean it.â
The Minnesota senator has faced scrutiny for other offbeat incidents. In a 2019 interview during her Democratic presidential campaign, she admitted to accidentally killing a duck while attempting to play golf.
âActually, I did one time try to play golf and I kind of misfired,â Klobuchar said at the time. âI do â I have played mini golf a lot with my family â but I misfired on the first try and the ball hit a duck in the head and yeah, it appeared to perish.â
The crowd at the event groaned, and Klobuchar added, âSo anyway â so I donât think it is a good idea for the bird population of America if I would play golf.â
While the photo controversy is unlikely to sway a Senate race, it adds to a growing list of unforced errors that critics say undermine Klobucharâs authenticity as she campaigns for governor. Neither Klobucharâs Senate office nor her gubernatorial campaign immediately responded to requests for comment.
