Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a Philippine national living illegally in the United States for nearly 26 years, whose criminal record stretches back two decades, according to Breitbart News.
Agents took 55-year-old Jaime Tan Francisco into custody on August 2, following his arrest by Las Vegas police approximately one week earlier. Francisco now faces charges of domestic battery, attempted arson, drug possession, resisting an officer, and possessing drug paraphernalia, per the report.
Overstayed Visa by 26 Years
Francisco first entered the U.S. legally in April 2000 through Detroit, Michigan. His authorized stay was set to expire on October 26, 2000, but he overstayed and remained in the country without legal status for nearly 26 years.
His criminal history in the U.S. includes a 2006 conviction for harassment, followed by a 2014 conviction for possession of methamphetamine.
Acting ICE Director David Venturella commented on the arrest, saying, ‘Criminal illegal aliens are unwelcome in the U.S., and ICE is partnering with state and local police to keep them off our streets and out of our communities.’
The arrest highlights ongoing federal efforts to target undocumented immigrants with prior criminal records, particularly those who have slipped through enforcement gaps despite years of offenses.
