Ilhan Omar’s Sister Tied to Home at Center of Minnesota’s $250M Fraud Scandal, Daily Wire Reports

A Daily Wire investigation finds Rep. Ilhan Omar’s sister incorporated her consulting firm at a Lakeville home linked to multiple convicts in the Feeding Our Future scheme, as a state House committee weighs subpoenaing the congresswoman.

Ilhan Omar’s Sister Tied to Home at Center of Minnesota’s $250M Fraud Scandal, Daily Wire Reports

A Daily Wire investigation published Friday links the sister of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) to a suburban Minnesota address that served as an incorporation hub for several people convicted in the sprawling “Feeding Our Future” fraud case, the largest public theft in state history.

Sahra Noor, the congresswoman’s sister, founded a consulting firm called Grit Partners Consulting and incorporated it at a home on Hyacinth Avenue in Lakeville, according to the outlet’s review of state records. The couple living at that address, Mashah Ahmed Ali and his wife Ister Ahmed Afraa, are tied through business filings to at least three people convicted in the federal meals scandal.

Noor’s firm says on its public materials that it “has secured more than $20 million in funding for health initiatives” and has consulted on projects backed by federal health agencies, including USAID and the CDC.

The revelations arrive as the Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee continues examining what Rep. Omar knew about the scheme. The outlet notes that in May, Democrats on the panel blocked a subpoena that would have compelled the congresswoman to produce records. Omar has not been charged with any wrongdoing in connection with the scandal.

Convicted Players and the Hyacinth Avenue Network

At the heart of the Daily Wire report is a web of companies registered to the same Lakeville home.

Afraa opened Sunrise Business Center, Inc. alongside Hanna Marekegn, who pleaded guilty in 2022 to wire fraud for stealing $7 million. Marekegn claimed to be feeding 4,000 children daily while purchasing a personal mansion. She also testified under oath that she falsely alleged racism to get Minnesota bureaucrats to ignore red flags in her operation.

Afraa separately incorporated Sunshine Care Center MN, Inc., which claimed the same office address as Sunrise, and Marekegn listed Sunshine Care Center as her employer on LinkedIn.

Afraa is further tied to Aimee Bock, the Feeding Our Future ringleader sentenced to 41 years in prison. Minnesota Department of Health data listed Bock as the point of contact for Sunshine Care Center LLC, and Bock also appeared as point of contact for Diversity Childcare Center LLC, another entity incorporated at the Hyacinth Avenue home.

According to the Daily Wire’s review of state investigative documents, Bock said the head of Sunshine Care Center MN — not named in the documents — was brought to Feeding Our Future by a woman named Sahra Nur, a key figure sentenced to four years in prison. Afraa is closely tied to Nur, the outlet reports. Afraa served as CEO of Aflah Property Inc., which operated out of Nur’s home on Fordham Court NE, and had a $30,000 state tax lien placed against her in April 2025 listing that Fordham address.

The Fordham Court Hub

Nur’s home functioned as what the Daily Wire describes as ground zero for the fraud, used by at least 17 companies, many designed to bill the government or launder proceeds.

Nur was an owner of S & S Catering, which claimed to have made more than eight million meals. According to her indictment and guilty plea, the company enabled fraud by giving fake invoices to nonprofits so they could bill the government for meal purchases — resulting in more than $12 million in reimbursements. Her home also served as the incorporation address for nonprofits including the Academy for Youth Excellence, which allegedly stole $3.5 million in federal funds, and Golis Properties LLC, which allegedly stole $3.9 million and used $2.5 million to buy a block on East Lake Street.

Nur ran Kulmiye Management LLC, while Afraa was an executive in Kulmiye Property LLC. Afraa also bought a property directly across from 2529 12th Avenue South, which was forfeited to the government after being purchased with stolen funds.

Omar’s Record and the Broader Family Questions

The Daily Wire notes that questions about Omar’s family are not new. Since entering national politics, the congresswoman has faced scrutiny over a marriage to a Somali man widely believed to be her brother — a union that was almost certainly not romantic, as the man was a foreign national and Omar married another man, the father of her children, during that time. Omar later divorced her second husband to marry Tim Mynett, her one-time political consultant.

Reporting cited by the outlet shows Noor has moved back to Africa. According to Breitbart, she left her position at the People’s Center — a Minneapolis clinic that received a $2 million earmark while Omar was a state representative — and relocated to Kenya, where Grit Partners did USAID-funded work. Her husband, Mohamed Keynan, worked for the Minnesota Department of Human Services before returning to Africa, where he has served as chief of staff to Somalia’s prime minister and as a policy advisor to its president, Breitbart reported.

Keynan is also known as Mohamed Ali — the same surname as Mashah Ahmed Ali, the owner of the Hyacinth Avenue home. Ali created two companies, Pro Transit Allies LLC, which appears to be a Medicaid transportation company, and Puntland Transport LLC, named for the Somali region where Keynan is a prominent advocate.

Denials and Non-Responses

Reached by the Daily Wire, Mashah Ahmed Ali said he had never heard of the companies registered to his home or by his wife. “There must be some sort of scam going on, I have no idea,” he said, adding that for the last decade he has held a professional job and has “nothing to do with anything.” He declined to provide his wife’s phone number, and Afraa did not respond to a text sent to a number associated with her. Noor, whose book is scheduled for release next month, did not return a request for comment.

The congresswoman has not been accused of any crime, and the House committee’s inquiry remains ongoing. But the Daily Wire’s findings give new oxygen to Republican-led oversight efforts — and to questions Democrats have so far declined to force her to answer under oath.
