Court documents newly surfaced in the case of convicted murderer Karmelo Anthony contain a series of text messages in which the teenager allegedly made racist and anti-gay remarks, according to a report from The Daily Mail.
Anthony, who was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the stabbing death of fellow teenager Austin Metcalf at a Frisco, Texas, track meet on April 2, 2025, is now at the center of a fresh controversy as his defense team prepares an appeal.
The messages, which were not presented as evidence during Anthony’s trial, reportedly show him expressing disdain for Black women, using derogatory language and writing that they “need to go die.” In one text, he allegedly wrote that he “f***ing [despises] black bitches,” attributing his animosity to “all tht wig glue getting to they f***ing brain.”
Anthony also reportedly directed hostility toward gay people. In a message sent in 2021, when he was about 13 or 14 years old, he said he supported President Trump over Joe Biden because Trump “doesn’t like gays, like himself.” Another text read: “These f***ing gay people are f***ing everything up.”
Videos, weapons, and school threats
The Daily Mail reports that the court documents also include videos Anthony shot of himself, including footage of him posing with an AK-47 and another clip showing him pointing a gun at a house before running away.
About six months before the murder, Anthony allegedly bragged to his girlfriend in a text about bringing a gun and a knife to school.
Prosecutors chose not to present these materials during the trial, but their publication now comes at a delicate time for Anthony and his legal team, who are actively pursuing an appeal of his conviction and sentence.
The revelation of these texts and videos adds a new layer to the public record surrounding the case, though it remains unclear how, if at all, the materials might factor into the appeals process.
Neither Anthony’s attorneys nor representatives for The Daily Mail have issued public statements beyond the report. The documents have not been independently verified by this outlet.
