Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow warned this week that the Democratic Party’s current political wave is far more radical than its predecessor, dubbing the new movement “woke two” and pointing to a Wisconsin candidate as proof.
During Tuesday’s edition of “The Alex Marlow Show,” Marlow highlighted the surging gubernatorial campaign of Francesca Hong, a state legislator he described as “one of the most radical people who’s ever run for a major office.”
A Big Day for ‘Woke Two’
“The difference between woke one and woke two in the context of a big day for woke two,” Marlow said, “because Francesca Hong is way ahead, one of the most radical people who’s ever run for a major office this time the governor of Wisconsin in a major political party is on the precipice of becoming the nominee by the Democrat Party.”
Hong, a progressive Democrat who has served in the Wisconsin State Assembly, is leading her primary field in early returns or polling, according to Marlow’s comments. He did not provide specific numbers but framed her probable nomination as a watershed moment for the party’s leftward shift.
What Is ‘Woke Two’?
Marlow’s “woke one” appears to reference the earlier wave of social justice activism and identity-focused politics that swept Democratic primaries in recent years. “Woke two,” by contrast, he argues, is a more aggressive, more ideological phase—one willing to elevate candidates that previously would have been considered too extreme for statewide office.
Hong’s platform, as recounted by Marlow, includes positions far to the left of mainstream Democratic politics, though he did not elaborate on specific policy details in the segment.
National Implications
The Wisconsin race is drawing national attention because the state is a key presidential battleground. A Hong nomination could reshape the general election landscape, potentially alienating moderate voters even as it energizes the progressive base.
Marlow’s remarks come amid growing conservative commentary about the Democratic Party’s direction under pressure from its activist wing. He suggested that the party’s embrace of candidates like Hong signals a fundamental break from its recent past.
The Alex Marlow Show airs weekdays from noon to 1 p.m. Eastern on Salem Radio Network stations, and at 9 p.m. on the Salem TV news channel. The podcast version is available on YouTube, Rumble, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify.
Neither Hong’s campaign nor the Wisconsin Democratic Party has yet responded to requests for comment on Marlow’s characterization.
