Federal authorities have arrested a Michigan man on charges of making death threats against FBI Director Kash Patel and other federal officials, marking the latest in a troubling pattern of threats against government personnel.
Anthony Daniel Palazzolo, 42, of Chesterfield Township was taken into custody Friday and appeared in federal court the same afternoon, where he was temporarily detained. A detention hearing has been scheduled for November 2.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan, the criminal complaint alleges that Palazzolo sent a threatening message via Facebook on October 8, 2026, to an individual identified in court documents as “V-1.” In that message, prosecutors say Palazzolo wrote that he had “put a hit out” on the recipient and added that Patel was a “dead mf too.”
Escalating Threats Following FBI Interview
The threats didn’t stop after federal agents interviewed Palazzolo about the initial message. Following his conversation with the FBI, the suspect allegedly continued to harass a Detroit FBI agent by phone, threatening to come to the office and “use deadly force against every single one of you government officials—FBI Secret Service will all be f[——] killed,” according to the complaint.
Court documents cited by the Daily Mail reveal that Palazzolo’s alleged threatening communications extended beyond the FBI director. The suspect reportedly sent messages to the U.S. Secret Service, the Supreme Court, and a court in Texas. In those communications, he allegedly threatened to sodomize a government official.
Extensive Criminal History
This isn’t Palazzolo’s first encounter with law enforcement. According to the Daily Mail, the suspect has a lengthy criminal record spanning multiple states, including Michigan, Texas, and Florida.
His prior arrests include a 2018 charge for falsely reporting a terrorist threat and a separate charge for making a fake bomb threat. He now faces a felony charge of transmitting threatening interstate communications.
FBI’s Recent Focus on Protecting Americans
The arrest comes as FBI Director Patel has been highlighting his agency’s recent successes in combating threats to public safety. In a Wednesday social media post, Patel announced progress against a violent network targeting children online.
“This FBI is crushing 764 – a violent network that targets children online, affiliated with Nihilistic Violent Extremism,” Patel wrote. “And across our broader fight to protect America’s children, 6,000+ child predators and human traffickers arrested — UP 13%. Our children deserve protection. Their victims deserve justice. This FBI is delivering BOTH.”
On Friday, the same day as Palazzolo’s arrest, Patel announced another major operation. “The fraudsters thought they could steal from American taxpayers and get away with it. Not anymore,” he stated, referring to an FBI Minneapolis operation that resulted in the arrest of four alleged Medicaid fraudsters.
According to Patel, those arrests were connected to over $41 million in intended fraud and $21.65 million in actual losses. “And we’re just getting started,” the FBI director added.
The case against Palazzolo underscores the ongoing challenge of threats against federal officials and law enforcement personnel. Federal prosecutors will now move forward with the case as Palazzolo awaits his detention hearing.
