Former President Donald Trump delivered a combative speech at a packed rally in Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday, mocking a protester and lashing out at political opponents as the 2026 midterm elections approach.
‘They’re Losers!’
Trump brushed off an interruption from a protester, telling the crowd, “Don’t worry about him. They’re losers!” before claiming demonstrators are “paid $250 to interrupt” his events. “Every rally, somebody stands up and they say some stupid thing!” quipped the former president, drawing cheers from the enthusiastic crowd chanting “USA!”
‘Apple Pie’ Politics
In a rare moment of bipartisanship, Trump praised Michigan Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens for endorsing Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers, calling the GOP hopeful “apple pie” in a folksy appeal. “This country needs a little apple pie. We don’t need the communists, the jihadists, the Muslim Brotherhood,” Trump declared, framing the midterms as a cultural battleground.
Attacks on Democrats
The former president sharply criticized Democratic leadership, singling out Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed as someone who “does not represent American values.” “A party that hates America cannot be allowed to lead the people who built America,” Trump told supporters at the Iowa rally.
The event marked another campaign stop where Trump blended humor, hostility toward opponents, and polarizing rhetoric as Republicans aim to regain congressional majorities.
