Way Too Early 2027 WNBA Mock Draft: Trans Athletes and Big Names Shake Up the Board

The Daily Wire's mock draft predicts a historic 2027 WNBA class headlined by transgender athletes like Enes Kanter Freedom, Julie Tetart, and others, promising unprecedented physical dominance and controversy.

Way Too Early 2027 WNBA Mock Draft: Trans Athletes and Big Names Shake Up the Board

The WNBA might be on the verge of a seismic shift, according to a new mock draft from The Daily Wire that predicts the 2027 class will be the most stacked — and most controversial — in league history. With the current season still underway, the draft order is speculative, but the names at the top are already turning heads.

Comedian Shane Gillis famously mocked the league’s lack of star recognition at the 2025 ESPYs, but the upcoming talent could change that narrative. The Daily Wire’s “Way Too Early” mock draft highlights three players expected to dominate the top of the board, each bringing a level of physicality never before seen in the women’s game.

A New Kind of Dominance

Topping the list is Enes Kanter Freedom, a 6’10”, 250-pound former NBA player and WWE 24/7 Champion. Kanter hasn’t played professional basketball in four years, but a recent video of her training, posted on X in August 2026, shows her in formidable shape. Her sheer size and power would make her an instant force, potentially teaming up with Brittney Griner in a frontcourt that could redefine the league.

Kanter also brings entertainment chops from her WWE days, including a 2019 victory over R-Truth at Madison Square Garden. That experience, The Daily Wire argues, could help her handle the theatrics of professional basketball.

The Next Generation

Another top prospect is Julie Tetart, a 29-year-old French player who transitioned and has since dominated the French league. Tetart is the reigning Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Domestic Player of the Year in the Monaco Basket Association. Her stat lines are staggering — 32 points and 25 rebounds, 21 points and 30 rebounds, and 24 points and 28 rebounds in recent games — numbers that would translate well to the WNBA.

The mock draft also mentions a player it describes as a “standout at Iowa State” who led the Cyclones in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, and blocks. This player, who has political aspirations, would be a perfect fit for the Washington Mystics, providing a dual threat on and off the court.

A Deep Class

The draft is not just about the top three. The Daily Wire rounded out a top 10 that includes several other notable names. There’s a former Virginia national champion who played in the NBA and has since excelled in international 3×3 basketball. Another prospect, a known trendsetter who “always down for a rebrand,” could bring a new level of style to the league.

One player is linked to the Kardashian family and reportedly has Caitlyn Jenner’s support, while another is a big Ted Cruz fan with a Reddit account dedicated to his favorite books. The list also includes the son of Dwyane Wade, who has been identifying as female since age 12 and could become a PR star for the league.

The 2027 WNBA Draft is scheduled for April. As more players declare, the board will likely shift, but if these projections hold, the league is in for a transformative year.
