President Donald Trump attended a separate memorial service for 9/11 victims at the Pentagon on Friday morning, joined by First Lady Melania Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
The Pentagon was one of three sites struck on September 11, 2001, when hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the building, killing 184 people. The president’s presence at that observance followed a tradition of presidential participation in 9/11 commemorations at one of the attack sites.
Mayor’s Attendance Draws Attention
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani attended the ceremony at Ground Zero, according to Breitbart, despite victims’ families having told him to stay away.
