Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen was arrested and jailed on drunk driving charges early Sunday morning in downtown Indianapolis, according to the New York Post.
Allen was taken into custody at around 1 a.m. on Meridian Street and booked at the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center, the Post reported. As of Sunday afternoon, he remained in the facility.
The 33-year-old was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and DWI endangering a person, both misdemeanors.

The Colts acknowledged the arrest but declined to comment further. In a statement, the team said, “We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”
Allen had just signed a one-year deal with the Colts reportedly worth $8.32 million. The contract came after a standout 2024 season with the Los Angeles Chargers, in which he recorded 81 receptions for 777 yards and four touchdowns.
Career Background
A 14-season NFL veteran, Allen spent 11 years with the Chargers before a trade to the Chicago Bears in 2023. He played one season in Chicago, then returned to the Chargers in 2024.
Allen’s career honors include the 2017 NFL Comeback Player of the Year, the 2013 Rookie of the Year, and six Pro Bowl selections. He played college football at the University of California, Berkeley, before entering the 2013 NFL Draft, where the Chargers selected him in the third round (76th overall).
In the Colts’ preseason game against the Detroit Lions on Saturday, Allen finished with one catch for 24 yards.
The arrest adds uncertainty to Allen’s status with the Colts as the regular season approaches. The team has not yet stated whether any disciplinary action will be taken.
