One Dead, Six Injured Including Three Police Officers in Minneapolis High-Rise Shooting; Suspect Dead

A shooting inside a downtown Minneapolis high-rise apartment building on Wednesday left one person dead and at least six others injured, including three police officers, according to officials and early reports. The suspected shooter is also dead, though authorities have not yet clarified how the shooter died.

The incident unfolded at the Loring Towers apartment complex near the intersection of 15 East Grant Street and Marquette Avenue. Police responded after multiple 911 callers reported gunfire, entering the building and following the sound of shots to the scene, according to Fox News.

Fox News confirmed that two police officers were injured by gunfire, and a third officer sustained injuries in the incident. The network also reported that there were “multiple victims” at the scene.

Casualty Figures and Unconfirmed Reports

As of the most recent update, one person has died, and at least six others are injured, including the three officers. The conditions of the civilian victims remain unclear. Unconfirmed reports early in the response suggested that multiple people may have died, but those reports have not been verified by official sources.

The suspected shooter is dead, according to the update, but it is not known whether the shooter was killed by police gunfire or died by another means. The Gateway Pundit reported that there were unconfirmed reports police had shot the active shooter, but that information could not be immediately confirmed.

Local monitoring account CrimeWatch Minneapolis posted video from the scene, showing a heavy police presence and emergency vehicles outside the Loring Towers. The account described an “ACTIVE SHOOTER” situation and reported “multiple injured parties” in real-time as events unfolded.

Officials Respond

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz released a statement acknowledging the shooting and said state officials were supporting local law enforcement.

“My public safety team is responding to a shooting that took place downtown Minneapolis this afternoon,” Walz said. “State officials are on the ground to support local law enforcement and we will share more information as it becomes available.”

FBI Director Kash Patel also reacted to the incident, posting on social media that the FBI was aware of the shooting and that personnel were responding.

“FBI is aware of the shooting in Minneapolis involving law enforcement and our personnel are responding — we will offer any and all resources necessary to assist local authorities,” Patel wrote.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or the suspected shooter. The circumstances that led to the shooting remain under investigation, and officials have not provided details on a possible motive.

The shooting marks another violent incident in Minneapolis, which has seen heightened attention on public safety in recent years. The Loring Towers area is a densely populated residential neighborhood in the city’s downtown corridor, and the midday timing of the incident raised alarm among residents and local leaders.

Police have not said whether the shooter acted alone, and no further threats have been reported. The public is being urged to avoid the area as the investigation continues.

More information is expected to be released as authorities update the public on the condition of the injured and the events that led to the tragedy.
