Florida Governor Ron DeSantis joined Palm Beach County officials Sunday for a sobering press conference following a deadly plane crash that killed all nine people aboard a Learjet 60 near West Palm Beach. The aircraft went down just miles from former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in what DeSantis called a “cataclysmic” impact.
“It looked like a missile going down,” DeSantis told reporters, describing the jet’s near-vertical plunge. “It left a big crater on the side of the road.” The governor noted extensive debris scattered over a wide area but said there were no immediate reports of ground casualties.
‘Massive Crater’ Forces Road Closure, Evacuations
Palm Beach County Commissioner Joel G. Flores confirmed approximately 600 residents were evacuated from the surrounding neighborhood, which officials designated a crime scene. “They’re investigating that, so the people can’t stay there,” Flores said, adding that displaced residents were being relocated to county shelters.

The impact’s force created a “massive crater” that will likely keep the adjacent roadway closed for at least 30 days, according to Flores. County Administrator Joseph Abruzzo said an emergency declaration would be sent to DeSantis’ office to expedite recovery efforts.
Chilling Final Moments Captured on Audio
While the cause remains under investigation by the FAA, air traffic control recordings obtained by The Gateway Pundit reveal the crew’s frantic final moments. “Mayday, mayday! We’re descending 10,000 feet per minute,” the pilot shouted before a female crew member’s expletive-laden cry — “Holy f*ck, we’re out of time!” — abruptly ended the transmission.
DeSantis emphasized that federal investigators would provide more details as they process the scene. “There’s going to be more information that will come out,” the governor said. “Obviously, when the FAA people get here, they’re going to be able to get a lot more.”
