NTSB Dismisses Mar-a-Lago Link in Florida Jet Crash That Killed Tech CEO, Family

Federal investigators have found no evidence linking Sunday’s deadly private jet crash near Palm Beach to former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort or Secret Service operations, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) confirmed Wednesday.

NTSB member Tom Chapman called the proximity to Trump’s property “purely coincidence” after the Learjet 60 went down less than ten miles away, killing all nine aboard including an Austin tech entrepreneur and his young family.

Crash Site Yields Critical Clues

Investigators discovered most of the plane’s left elevator—a tail component controlling pitch—scattered between 1.3 and 3.8 miles from the main impact crater, indicating midair breakup before the crash. Chapman noted the part wouldn’t have prevented the rapid descent even if intact.

“The discovery adds to evidence that the aircraft began breaking apart before impact,” Chapman told reporters, adding that recovered wreckage is being analyzed. Dashcam footage is also being reviewed to reconstruct final moments.

Victims Included Young Family

Austin-based tech CEO Adam Robinson, 45, perished alongside his wife Helen Sharp, 40, and their children Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2. The flight had departed Austin en route to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when it encountered trouble.

Crews reported light icing and moderate turbulence at 35,000 feet before requesting higher altitude. Minutes later, they issued a mayday call while descending. The cause remains undetermined.

Recovery Hampered by Weather

Recent storms flooded the impact site, slowing debris collection. About 600 nearby residents remain evacuated, with 40-50 sheltered at a community center. Military Trail stays closed as crews work.

Palm Beach County seeks state aid for displaced residents while urging anyone who finds debris to avoid touching it and alert authorities immediately.
