DNC Chair Dismisses 'Woke' as Campaign Issue: 'Americans Care About the Economy'

Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin flatly dismissed the idea that ‘woke’ politics played any meaningful role in the midterm elections during a Wednesday appearance on Fox News. Pushed by host Bret Baier on whether the term was making a comeback, Martin shot back with a firm ‘no.’

‘That wasn’t an issue in this campaign,’ Martin said on ‘Special Report.’ ‘When people can barely afford gas or groceries, they don’t have time to care about whether someone’s woke or not.’

Republicans ‘Lost the Plot’ on Messaging

Martin argued that Republicans misfired by focusing on cultural buzzwords like ā€œsocialismā€ and ā€œwokeismā€ instead of addressing voter anxieties over inflation and stagnant wages. ‘The American people feel forgotten,’ he said. ‘They wanted a champion. Many trusted Donald Trump, and he hasn’t delivered.’

Exit Polls Show Economic Fury

The DNC chair pointed to exit polling showing 75% of voters believed the country was on the wrong track, with kitchen-table issues dominating their concerns. ‘This election was about change,’ Martin said, ‘but above all, it was about the economy.’
