Newly released aerial footage shows migrants attacking French police as officers moved to intercept a human trafficker boat on the northern coast of France, according to video released by the UK’s Border Security Command. The footage, reportedly captured last month, shows around three dozen migrants carrying a large inflatable boat down a beach toward the English Channel before being confronted by police in a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV).
In the clip, the migrants scuffle with officers and pick up items from the ground—presumably rocks—and throw them at police. Officers respond by releasing PAVA gas to disperse the crowd as a 4×4 with reinforcements arrives. An officer then makes a long cut in the inflatable boat, rendering it useless.
The incident highlights the violence that border officers face daily, and comes just days after a German security expert warned that Europe could descend into civil war-like conditions if migrants resist deportation efforts violently.
Security Analyst Warns of ‘Civil War’ in Major German Cities
Jan Solwyn, a former German Federal Police captain, told Breitbart that European borders have become a ‘political and social fault line’ and that illegal migration has the potential to destroy the EU. He argued that police are not just dealing with migrants who will do everything they can to stay, but also with ‘very well-organized NGOs and private individuals who would engage in street battles with the riot police.’
Solwyn drew a parallel to the United States, saying, ‘We saw what happened in the US when ICE started arresting illegal immigrants. Then we’d have a civil war in major German cities.’
The comments come as Europe grapples with massive flows of illegal migration, which is big business for human trafficker gangs. European frontiers have been the scene of major gun battles, and smugglers have shown willingness to inflict extreme violence and rape against their ‘customers,’ according to the report.
UK Government Hails Footage as Proof of Progress
The British government has hailed the latest footage as proof that French authorities are being proactive in preventing migrant boats, following a £600 million cash handover from British taxpayers to Paris to protect its own borders. The Daily Telegraph noted that Britain’s Labour government was keen to show changes were afoot after the Tory opposition published footage earlier this year showing French police passively watching a migrant boat launch.
The government has also cited recent figures showing the number of recorded migrant arrivals by small boat is down this year compared to last, as proof that the plan inherited from the last government of Sir Keir Starmer is working. However, this is contested by the Conservatives, with Chris Philp noting that the number of migrants intercepted in the past 12 months is down by half from the previous 12 months, but the catch rate is just one third. The vast majority of migrants who attempt to enter Britain succeed, and in almost all cases those who make it to British soil are never forced to leave.
It is this near-certainty that the gamble can pay off handsomely that continues to drive migrants into the arms of human traffickers, according to the Conservatives, who say a ‘proper deterrent’ is needed.
Reform UK’s ‘Operation Fortress’
Nigel Farage’s Reform UK has also recognized this, pointing out that the present and previous governments are too nervous to make radical changes that would enable actual border control. That would mean leaving the European Court of Human Rights—a move for which there is no evidence any other major UK party has an appetite.
Reform has pledged to leave the ECHR and has proposed ‘Operation Fortress’ for the southern border, which would end welfare payments to most foreigners and jail executives of large businesses that use illegal migrant labour—an initiative dubbed ‘The Deliveroo Law.’
