A veteran IndyCar driver has pushed back against Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) after the lawmaker criticized President Donald Trump and the historic Freedom 250 Grand Prix held Sunday in Washington, DC.

The senator wrote that while Americans “struggle with the cost of gas,” Trump offers “the spectacle of an IndyCar race hoping you will not notice,” adding that “more taxpayer money” was spent on “self-aggrandizing distractions” that lead to higher taxes and costs. But IndyCar driver Graham Rahal quickly rebutted Schiff, arguing that the event was a point of national pride rather than a political diversion. “No, no, Adam.
