Fox News has made it official: Emily Compagno is the newest permanent co-host of “The Five,” the network’s consistently high-rated panel talk show. The announcement came Monday, with Compagno set to debut in her new role beginning Sept. 8.
Compagno, who has appeared as a guest host on the show numerous times over the years, will now take a full-time seat at the table. She joins longtime co-hosts Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino, and Jesse Watters, as well as rotating hosts Harold Ford Jr. and Jessica Tarlov, who fill the liberal seat on the panel.
‘A Powerhouse’
Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott praised the addition in a statement, calling “The Five” a “powerhouse” and “appointment viewing for millions of Americans” fifteen years after its debut. Scott said Compagno is a “highly accomplished host whose energy and talent have made her a standout across FOX News Media,” and expressed excitement about officially welcoming her to the show.
Compagno, in her own statement, said she was honored to join a team she has long admired and has been fortunate to work alongside over the years. “Having an official seat at the table on what I truly believe is the most fun show on television is an incredible privilege,” she said. “I am grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”
Leaving ‘Outnumbered’
As part of the move, Compagno will step down as co-host of “Outnumbered.” Fox News said a rotation of personalities will fill her seat there until a permanent co-host is named.
With Compagno’s addition, Gutfeld and Perino remain the only two original hosts still with “The Five,” a show that has seen many hosts come and go over its run.
The network shared a clip of Perino and the rest of the panel welcoming Compagno to the team, with Compagno reacting with “Overcome with joy and gratitude!”
Compagno’s debut as a mainstay on “The Five” is set for Sept. 8.
