A Cal State L.A. professor and co-founder of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles is under scrutiny after publicly identifying an immigration enforcement officer and urging a crowd to harm him, according to a report from The Daily Wire.
Melina Abdullah, who also serves as a prominent Muslim activist with deep ties to left-wing organizing, made the remarks during a weekend summit hosted by La Defensa del Pueblo, a group affiliated with the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

At the event, Abdullah called out Brian Palacios, an ICE agent, by name, displayed his face, and shared what she said was his location, telling the audience: “The killer ICE agent who we got on good authority is right down the road at the Hilton Garden Inn in Oxnard.”
She then repeated calls for the crowd to take action, saying, “You see the devil right there, f*ck him up. You know that Brian Palacios may be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn at 2000 Solar Drive, down the way. F*ck him up.”

Abdullah’s comments come amid ongoing threats against Palacios following an incident on New Year’s Eve, when he fatally shot Keith Porter Jr. Palacios, who was off-duty at the time, has maintained the shooting was in self-defense. He has also accused his girlfriend’s ex-husband, Omar Escorcia, of leaking his name to the L.A. chapter of Black Lives Matter. Abdullah has denied any contact between her organization and Escorcia.
Call for ‘Guerrilla Warfare’ Texts
During her remarks, Abdullah invoked “Black August” and urged attendees to obtain tactical materials on “guerrilla warfare.” While she framed her calls to action as ranging from prayer to financial support, she made clear that federal agents should not feel safe.

“There should be nowhere that they go where they are comfortable,” she declared. “Turn up, organize, and win this sh*t.”
Abdullah has a long history of activism, with roots in Marxist organizing that span generations. Over the past decade, she helped build BLM-LA into a network with protest teams, policy initiatives, and media operations.
The Daily Wire reported that in 2020, BLM-LA repeatedly targeted then-L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, showing up at her home around 5:30 a.m., banging on a drum, and ringing her doorbell. The confrontation escalated when Lacey’s husband, David Lacey, pointed a handgun at demonstrators and threatened to shoot them.
Video of the encounter, partially circulated by BLM-LA, captured Abdullah asking, “Are you going to shoot me?” David Lacey responded, “I will shoot you. Get off of my porch.”
The latest incident raises questions about the boundaries of protest rhetoric, especially when it targets individual law enforcement officers with specific details.
