Former President Bill Clinton is turning his 80th birthday into a fundraising bonanza, with a weekend party at the Hamptons estate of Alex Soros, the son of billionaire Democratic megadonor George Soros.
The intimate gathering, reported by Page Six on Wednesday, is one of several celebrations marking Clinton’s milestone birthday — his actual birthday was August 19 — and, according to a Democratic insider, they are all serving a dual purpose.
“They’re having birthday parties and events all over the country as a fundraising vehicle,” the insider told Page Six.
The party at Soros’s home comes as the Soros family has poured more than $100 million into the 2026 midterms to support Democratic candidates so far. That financial muscle was on display as the Clintons joined Alex Soros and his fiancée, Huma Abedin, a longtime Hillary Clinton aide, at the gathering.
A Decade-Milestone Money Machine
The birthday celebrations coincide with a series of fundraisers Clinton is holding for his Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative, according to the New York Post, which first reported the story.
One political veteran described the logic behind the former president’s aggressive schedule of birthday fundraisers.
“If you are a politician who does not politically monetize your decades — as you turn 50, 60, 70, 80 — you’re not doing it right,” the veteran said. “You only have every 10 years. No one cares when you turn 71. So every decade, you only have a few bites of the apple to get that good crunch.”
The drive for foundation dollars could prove to be one of the last major fundraising pushes for the 42nd president, the Post noted.
A History of Star-Studded Bashes
Clinton has long paired his decade birthdays with glitzy fundraisers featuring big names from Hollywood and the music industry.
For his 60th birthday, he hosted a massive Clinton Foundation event in Toronto that drew an array of performers and celebrities, including Jon Bon Jovi, Tim McGraw, Sarah McLachlan, James Taylor, Billy Crystal, Josh Groban, Kevin Spacey, and Clarence Clemons.
Those kinds of A-list draws have helped Clinton raise hundreds of millions for his foundation over the years, and his 80th appears to be following the same playbook — with a distinctly modern, Soros-connected twist.
