Fonda Doubles Down on Merger Opposition
When asked about her support for Ruffalo — who has faced backlash over comments he made regarding the merger — Fonda insisted the deal would be disastrous for the public.
“It would be terrible for consumers. Prices would go up,” she said, claiming without providing evidence that “thousands and thousands of people would lose their jobs.”
Fonda expressed hope that “a very robust and growing movement” exists to block the merger, and dismissed the criticism of Ruffalo as a smear tactic tied to his opposition to the deal rather than any genuine concern over his remarks.
A Conspiracy About Tech Billionaires
But the most eye-catching portion of Fonda’s remarks came when a reporter asked her about the obsession with longevity among global elites.
“They want to live forever, while they’re killing the rest of us,” the actress fumed.
Fonda — who is worth a reported $250 million — then launched into a theory about wealthy tech founders believing themselves above natural law.
“Most of these guys, these tech bros and these oligarchs and billionaires, they feel that the laws that the rest of us live by don’t matter to them, including the laws of physics,” she said. “Natural laws. They’re going to live forever.”
Her theory took an even stranger turn when she suggested that these men, unable to have children themselves, would turn to technology to build their legacies.
“Because these guys can’t have babies, they’ll create robots. That’ll be their babies,” Fonda exclaimed. “And they’ll just turn the rest of us into tradwives, who have a lot of babies too.”
The actress continued, painting a dystopian picture of political repression to come.
“Then they’ll take away the vote. Can you believe it? And we’re not going to stand for it,” she said. “They’re not going to win, because we’re not going to stand for it.”

Fonda, a longtime climate activist, framed the stakes of this alleged power grab in terms of the planet’s future.
“The big problem is — and this has never happened in the history of humankind — if this was happening at any other time, you could say: ‘We’re going to win, in the end,'” she said. “But because of the climate crisis, we don’t have that much time. You know, there’s a point where if it gets too hot, then there’s no going back.”
It’s not entirely clear which tech leaders Fonda had in mind, though the obvious candidate would seem to be Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO who has spoken extensively about both longevity research and building humanoid robots. But as the outlet notes, Musk doesn’t fit Fonda’s description particularly well: the billionaire has 13 living children by four different women, three of whom he was not married to.
