Trump Surpasses 750 Press Events in Second Term, Claims ‘Most Transparent’ White House

A memo obtained by Breitbart News says President Trump has held 759 press-facing events totaling over 21,000 minutes, taking questions at 474 of them — a pace his team contrasts with Biden's limited media access.

Trump Surpasses 750 Press Events in Second Term, Claims 'Most Transparent' White House

President Donald Trump has participated in 759 press-facing events during his second term, according to a memo obtained exclusively by Breitbart News. The outlet reports that those events totaled 21,058 minutes — roughly 351 hours — with Trump taking questions from reporters at 474 of them. The question-and-answer sessions alone accounted for 12,178 minutes, or about 203 hours.

The memo, as described by Breitbart, catalogs a wide range of interactions: formal press conferences, briefings, gaggles, sprays, and exchanges with reporters while boarding, deboarding, or traveling aboard Air Force One and Marine One. Trump has called himself “the most transparent president” in U.S. history, and the numbers in the memo are presented as backing that claim.

A Contrast With Biden

Breitbart frames the data as a sharp break from the media access granted by Trump’s immediate predecessor, Joe Biden. According to the outlet, Biden rarely addressed the press or took questions, and when he did, he often relied on a pre-approved list of reporters compiled by his staff — complete with pronunciation guides and summaries of expected questions and suggested responses.

The outlet also argues that Biden’s lighter press schedule drew little scrutiny from mainstream outlets, which Breitbart says offered favorable coverage until breaking sharply from him after his June 2024 debate performance. It points to a White House fact sheet citing a Media Research Center finding that 92% of mainstream coverage of Trump’s first 100 days back in office was negative, compared with nearly 60% positive coverage of Biden during the same period.

Press Pass Dispute Escalates

The memo’s release comes amid a growing fight over White House access. Breitbart reports that CNN, MS NOW, and Politico lost their hard passes to access White House grounds last week. Those three outlets have since sued the administration, arguing that revoking their passes violates the First Amendment’s guarantee of a free press and that they are entitled to continued special access.

The administration disputes that framing. Vice President JD Vance addressed the lawsuit on Monday, saying the outlets retain the ability to cover the White House even without hard passes.

“They can still report on the Trump White House. They can still get the public reports. They can still, of course, talk to people in the administration and outside the administration,” Vance said. “What the president has said is, we’re not going to give you special access inside the White House.”

Vance also noted that Breitbart News itself was denied special access during previous administrations — a point he said went unprotested by the same outlets now suing. Breitbart reports that numerous other outlets across the political spectrum likewise lack access to White House grounds, a fact it says has not previously been described by the establishment media as a First Amendment violation.

Solidarity — or Something Else

In what Breitbart describes as stated solidarity with the suing outlets, Fox News and others have said they will not cover Trump’s remarks or use their audio or video equipment as part of the press pool. Breitbart characterizes those actions as undermining the outlets’ own claims to prioritize transparency in covering the presidency.

The White House has not commented further on the memo, which was obtained exclusively by Breitbart. The numbers it contains — 759 events, 474 question-and-answer sessions, and more than 350 total hours — are likely to become a central talking point as the administration defends its press access decisions in court and in public.
