Another Sex Toy Hits WNBA Court; Angel Reese Points Out Alleged Flinger

For the second time in a year, a fan disrupted a WNBA game by tossing a green sex toy onto the court. Angel Reese identified the alleged thrower, who was later apprehended.

Another Sex Toy Hits WNBA Court; Angel Reese Points Out Alleged Flinger

The green adult sex toy trend that plagued the WNBA last season made an unwelcome return Thursday night, halting a game between the Atlanta Dream and the Los Angeles Sparks.

With L.A.’s Jihyun Park at the free-throw line during the third quarter, a fan hurled the device onto the court, forcing officials to stop play. Video from the arena shows the object bouncing onto the hardwood as players and referees reacted.

Atlanta’s Angel Reese immediately turned toward the stands, pointing and yelling at officials to draw attention to the culprit. Another clip shows a man later identified as the alleged thrower scrambling to leave the arena, even colliding with a security guard in the process. The man was reportedly apprehended shortly after.

The incident mirrors a wave of similar disruptions that swept through WNBA arenas last year, prompting the league to issue a stern warning. In August 2025, the league released a statement—quoted by the New York Post—declaring that “the safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority.” It added that any fan intentionally throwing an object onto the court would be “immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban,” in addition to possible arrest and prosecution.

A Pattern of Disruption

Last season’s surge of thrown sex toys became a bizarre sideshow, drawing reactions from players, coaches, and fans. The trend was later claimed by a crypto group, though the league did not directly link the group to the incidents. The disruptions eventually faded, only to resurface on Thursday.

The Dream went on to win decisively, 124–88, but the game’s momentum was visibly interrupted. Social media lit up with reactions, with many fans expressing disbelief and others calling for stricter enforcement of the league’s no-throwing policy.

Security Response Under Scrutiny

Video of the alleged flinger running into a security guard has raised questions about how quickly arena staff respond to such incidents. The WNBA’s existing policy mandates immediate ejection for anyone caught throwing objects, but the fact that the man was able to flee before being detained has drawn criticism online.

The league has not yet commented on Thursday’s incident specifically, but its prior stance suggests the man could face more than just a ban from games. Local authorities may also pursue charges, per the league’s earlier statement.

Reese, a former LSU star and one of the WNBA’s most prominent young players, did not comment publicly after the game, but her on-court reaction made clear her frustration. Fans in attendance and watching from home have since debated whether the league needs to adopt even stricter measures, such as enhanced surveillance or harsher penalties for first-time offenders.

For now, the WNBA finds itself in an unwanted dĂ©jĂ  vu, dealing with a trend that some hoped had died out. The league’s next move will be closely watched, especially as the regular season winds down and playoff intensity ramps up.
