Video circulating on social media and reported by the New York Post shows the fight breaking out among fans seated just feet apart in the bleacher section. The exact trigger for the clash remains unclear, but the footage captures a Cubs fan yelling down at several White Sox supporters a few rows below, according to the Post.
From Shouting to Fists
What began as a shouting match quickly escalated. Fans stood on their seats, facing off, and within moments, beer cans were thrown and punches began flying. One particularly combative fan in a gray sleeveless shirt targeted a heavier-set Cubs fan, pummeling him repeatedly until others intervened and pulled him away.
Name-calling was rampant throughout the altercation. In one video, a fan in a white shirt can be heard repeatedly calling opponents “bitch,” while another voice in the chaos pleads, “It’s not that serious!”
At least seven fans were seen throwing punches before stadium security and police arrived on the scene to break up the fight, the Post reported. Stadium officials responded quickly, attempting to separate the combatants.

The brawl comes as the crosstown rivalry reaches a fever pitch. The White Sox currently lead the AL Central, while the Cubs hold the first wild-card spot in the National League, making Monday’s game a key matchup for both teams with playoff implications.
