El-Sayed’s donors overlap with Hitler-praising Bilzerian’s backers

At least 13 donors have contributed to the campaigns of Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and Dan Bilzerian, the social media personality whose failed congressional bid was defined by Hitler-praising rhetoric, according to Federal Election Commission records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon.

The overlap in financial backing, reported Wednesday, links El-Sayed’s polished progressive campaign to one of the most notorious antisemitic figures in American politics. Both men have expressed hostility toward Israel, which the Free Beacon suggested may be the donors’ primary motivation.

Top donors with deep anti-Israel ties

Leading the list is Ibrahim Awad, a Georgia personal injury attorney who gave more than $19,500 combined to the two campaigns. Awad, who describes himself as an “AIPAC Slayer,” sent $12,652 to the Bilzerian Victory Fund — an amount that exceeds federal contribution limits, according to the Free Beacon.

Awad’s online history is marked by vicious anti-Israel and antisemitic rhetoric. He has posted on X that “Zionism is Nazism” and labeled anyone proud to be a Zionist a “Genocide Enabler.” He has also praised figures who dismiss Holocaust history and celebrated the deaths of U.S. politicians, all while showcasing his anti-Israel nonprofit work.

Another joint donor is Hussein “Sam” Mahrouq, a Texas subprime auto-loan magnate who has spent over $150,000 on anti-Israel political efforts nationwide. Mahrouq contributed to both Bilzerian and El-Sayed, as well as to “Squad” members Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). He also sent $1,000 to an anti-Zionist PAC run by a conspiracy theorist who blamed Jews for the September 11 attacks.

Bilzerian’s campaign steeped in Nazism

Bilzerian’s Republican primary challenge to Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) in Florida was marked by open displays of Nazi imagery. After spending over $1 million of his own money, he lost by 40 points. During the race, he released an AI-generated ad featuring Adolf Hitler while asking voters, “Should we revisit that Austrian painter’s opinions?” The video depicted Fine, who is Jewish, with devil horns and called him a “fat Jew” and a “Shylock.”

Bilzerian, who once avoided charges related to bomb-making and was accused of throwing a porn star off a roof, has been ranked as a top global antisemitic influencer by Israel’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs. He routinely promotes 9/11 conspiracy theories, denies the Holocaust, and blames “Jewish supremacy” for global problems.

El-Sayed’s campaign and the overlap

El-Sayed won the Democratic Senate primary in Michigan earlier this month and will face Republican Mike Rogers in November. While his campaign packages its anti-Israel platform in polished liberal rhetoric, the Free Beacon’s findings reveal that his fundraising draws from some of the same pockets that bankrolled Bilzerian’s pro-Nazi megaphone.

The report concludes that when it comes to opposing Israel, the far Left and the extreme Right appear to draw from the same financial well.
