Months before actress Hayden Panettiere was found dead, her West Hollywood homeowners’ association took the drastic step of posting warning posters about her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, instructing residents not to let him enter the building, according to a neighbor who lived next door to the actress.
Mia Terrazas, who resided in the same condo complex as Panettiere, told entertainment outlet TMZ that the HOA posted ‘wanted’-style flyers featuring photos of Hickerson in August 2025 — roughly a year before Panettiere’s death on Sunday. The posters reportedly said Hickerson, who had a domestic abuse conviction, had been linked to the ‘Nashville’ star for years and warned residents to call the police if he was seen on the property.
Neighbor Says She Was ‘Terrified’
Terrazas described being afraid of Hickerson, telling Inside Edition that she called 911 on multiple occasions over disturbances coming from Panettiere’s apartment. ‘I was terrified of him, and I have a concealed carry [permit], so that’s saying a lot,’ she said.
The HOA removed the signs after about one week, Terrazas said, telling her only that Hickerson was ‘no longer considered a threat.’
Death Investigation
Panettiere, who would have turned 37 five days after her death, was found unresponsive in a chair at a South Carolina Airbnb rental on Sunday afternoon. Hickerson was reportedly sleeping in another room when his brother, Zach Hickerson, discovered the actress. An autopsy performed the next day found no ‘signs of trauma’ that would have contributed to her death, according to the Greenville County coroner. Her official cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending further investigation, including toxicology results, which could take up to eight weeks to process.
On Wednesday, police reportedly conducted a ‘welfare check’ at a Greenville home owned by Hickerson’s grandmother, though officials said the call was unrelated to the investigation into Panettiere’s death.
