Hillary Clinton’s Unpaid Internship Seeks ‘High Level of Discretion,’ Sparking Online Mockery

The Office of Hillary Rodham Clinton is advertising for unpaid fall interns who must possess a 'high level of professionalism and discretion' — a phrase that social media users were quick to lampoon given the Clintons' history.

Hillary Clinton's Unpaid Internship Seeks 'High Level of Discretion,' Sparking Online Mockery

Hillary Clinton’s office is looking for an intern — unpaid, and able to keep quiet about it. The job posting, flagged by the New York Post on Sunday, asks applicants for a “high level of professionalism and discretion,” a phrase that has drawn swift mockery online given the Clintons’ storied history with interns.

The posting, listed on Daybook, seeks “Fall Interns from September 9, 2026 — November 13, 2026,” to work at the Office of Hillary Rodham Clinton in New York City. There is no salary attached. The description says interns will “provide support to our staff, assisting on a wide range of projects,” and, most notably, that the office is looking for someone who has a “high level of professionalism and discretion.”

Social media users did not let that last part slide. “I wonder if Monica Lewinsky is available. She was a real team player!” one person wrote. Another asked, “Who the hell would sign up for that job???” while a third quipped, “I value my life. Pass.”

The jokes all point back to a defining chapter in Clinton family lore: former President Bill Clinton’s affair with 22-year-old White House intern Monica Lewinsky, which led to his 1998 impeachment on charges of “lying under oath to a federal grand jury and obstructing justice in the Monica Lewinsky affair,” as CNN reported at the time. Hillary Clinton, the failed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, has since argued that her husband did not abuse his power in that situation, Breitbart News reported in 2018.

The Foundation Connection

The intern search extends beyond the former secretary of state’s personal office. According to the New York Post, Bill Clinton’s team at the Clinton Foundation is also seeking someone to work on special projects. The same Daybook posting touts the foundation’s origins: “President Clinton established the Clinton Foundation on the simple belief that everyone deserves a chance to succeed, everyone has a responsibility to act, and we all do better when we work together.”

The foundation itself has been a recurring flashpoint in Clinton politics. During the 2016 presidential debates, Donald Trump accused the Clinton Foundation of taking millions in donations from countries that “treat women horribly,” specifically naming Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Breitbart News covered those remarks at the time.

The New York Post noted that online commentators quickly turned the focus on Hillary being the one to hire the intern rather than Bill, given his history with them during his White House days.

For now, the posting remains live — a fall gig in New York City, no pay, and an unspecified need for silence. Whether anyone applies is another matter.
