An alleged intruder is dead after a Spartanburg County, South Carolina, homeowner shot him multiple times early Sunday morning, according to local reports.
Law enforcement responded to the scene around 2 a.m. after the homeowner encountered the suspect inside the residence. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, through interviews with those at the home, believes the alleged intruder “entered the home and encountered the homeowner who shot the individual,” WSPA reported.
Deputies located the body of the deceased suspect at the home. FOX Carolina identified the alleged intruder as 19-year-old Xavier Felix Rivera-Goucher. Police indicated that Rivera-Goucher “had no known prior relationship with the residents of the home.”
WSPA noted that two other residents in the home sustained injuries, though authorities did not specify how those injuries were caused.
No further details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting have been released at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not announced whether charges will be filed against the homeowner.
